Hello Wahoos!

We are just a few days away from City Meet 2023 and we have 29 amazing swimmers qualified for Saturday's event!

Please read the below information and the attachments to make the day flow as smoothly as possible. There’s a lot of info here but reviewing it all now will prevent confusion on Saturday.

General Information

Remember that we represent Wendwood at all times and are guests of the Coventry HOA. Please be respectful of their property and facilities.

Volunteers
We still need volunteers for our Meet tasks. Wendwood was assigned the easy job of Awards, which is simply sticking labels to ribbons and typing results into SwimTopia for posting. No experience necessary, you will be given instructions. 

We also need to provide one volunteer to help set up Friday night (arrive at pool at 6pm) and one to clean up Saturday afternoon after the meet. These are easy assignments but we do need to fulfill them.

You can sign up for shifts in SwimTopia just like the rest of the season. If you do not want to help while your child is swimming, feel free to sign up for a different session but please fill these slots.

(Daniel will be on the pool deck all day as Meet Director. I will be all over all day as GPSA Rep. We are providing two stroke and turn judges in addition to these volunteer requirements.)

Tent Assignments
See the attached map and lot assignments for the tent area. We are team number 12, in almost the same location that we were for Mini Meet and last year’s City Meet.

Spectators
See the attached meet invitation for a map of where to watch the meet. Coventry’s new fence gate across from the team area makes this access much easier than last year. Only Coaches, swimmers and officials will be allowed through the main gate.

Parking
The parking lot will be reserved for all-day meet officials and those with handicap placards only. There will be parking marshalls enforcing this.You may unload in designated areas before parking. See the attached meet invitation for a map of available parking locations, which is mostly along Honeysuckle Lane. 

Parking WILL be an issue. Please respect the Coventry community by not blocking driveways or mailboxes and arrive with plenty of time to walk from your car, if need be.

Warm Ups
Warm up assignments are attached for each session. Warm-ups for Session 1 start at 7:30am, Session 2 is estimated at 10:40 and Sessions 3 & 4 at 12:40. Please pay attention to the time for your child’s warm up session. If you are unsure of which session your child will compete in please check SwimTopia and the event listing in the attached meet invitation.

Snacks and Drinks
In past years we have signed up to provide snacks and refreshments for the team as a group. With the meet now broken up into age sessions with different arrival times, the logistics of this are difficult based on who arrives when and who will be there all day and who will be leaving early etc. Several coolers of ice and cold drinks will be provided for everyone to share but we ask that each family be responsible for your own swimmers’ snacks and meals this year. 

Concessions
Coventry will be selling concessions outside of the pool area in the pavilion by the playground. They accept cash and Venmo payments.

T-shirts
Commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase at the meet. Cash and cards will be accepted. T-shirts cost $20 with cash/Venmo or $21 with card.

Awards
The presentation of awards for athletes placing 1-8 for each event will occur at the end of each session outside the pool deck near the team tent area. See the map in the meet invitation for the specific location.
